Tobi Schwartz-Cassell What’s the most important skill a writer can possess? It’s not keyboard speed. It’s listening. And listening is, perhaps, what Tobi Schwartz-Cassell does best. She’s been doing it professionally for nearly three decades. Her specialty is copywriting for brochures, newsletters, websites, press releases, direct mail letters and ads. Her ability to absorb information, extract what’s most crucial, then compose compelling copy, earned her The 2006 Communicator Award of Distinction for outstanding work in business-to-business brochure writing. Having spent 20 years in broadcasting, the bulk of which as a newscaster at WWDB-FM, Philadelphia, she is best known for her appearances on “Fridays with Frank” with Sid Mark. She was also a reporter and news anchor at WPEN-AM, Philadelphia; and has hosted several cable TV news and call-in talk shows. A short list of those she has interviewed include: actress Julie Andrews, the late Morey Amsterdam and sports greats Richie Ashburn and Gene Hart. As co-author of the book “Adding Value to Long-Term Care” (Wiley), Ms. Schwartz-Cassell quickly transitioned into authoring articles for national trade journals, as well as for regional consumer magazines.Other credits include broadcast copywriting and production, plus extensive work in market research, retail advertising and trade association publications and conventions. Among her former employers are the New Jersey State Association of Life Underwriters, and industry icons Kalish & Rice Advertising, John Wanamaker and The Franklin Mint. An honors graduate from Rowan University, Ms. Schwartz-Cassell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in Advertising. She is an active volunteer at J.F. Cooper Elementary School, Cherry Hill High School East and the Animal Welfare Association of Voorhees, and is a member of the Leadership Team of Business Network International (BNI). She resides in Cherry Hill with her husband Stan, their son, Richard, and daughter, Jardin.
